Man dead after driving off road, hitting trees

LANCASTER, S.C . — A 58-year-old man from Simpsonville died Friday evening after driving off a Lancaster County road.

The victim was driving a 2012 Nissan pick-up truck, headed west on New Hope Road.

Around 8:40 p.m., he drove off the right side of the road then overcorrected and drove off the left side of the road, authorities said.

Officials said he hit a couple of trees.

The victim was not wearing a seat belt.

He was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital where he died.
