Marshville mayor running for NC House

MARSHVILLE, NC — He went from being an ex-convict to the Mayor of Marshville.  Now, Mayor Franklin Deese is running for a seat in North Carolina’s House of Representatives.

Tuesday, he filed to run in District 55.  He told Channel 9 he believes he can make positive changes in education and in providing infrastructure improvements to smaller towns.

Deese was convicted of armed robbery in the early 80s and spent time in state prison.  He said he was able to turn his life around and earn the trust of his family and community.

"I've been out of prison 30 years and I've tried to live up to and over-come those mistakes,” said Deese.

He has spent years mentoring young troubled youth all over the Charlotte area - showing them they can turn their lives around If they decide to.
