Mid-week heat wave will have temps close to 90

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After some cool weather over the past several days, the Charlotte area will start to see things heat up Wednesday.

Bright sunshine and breezy southwest winds will warm the metro area quickly as temperatures climb to the mid-to-upper 80s by Wednesday afternoon. More heat will return Thursday as temps will approach 90 degrees, but that won't last long.

Cooler weather will return on Friday thanks to a weak cold front sliding into the region. This may touch of a few storms for Thursday and Friday, but chances are low.

Dry weather will remain in place all Memorial Day weekend and highs will fall back to the lower 80s for the holiday.
