The mustache, the icon, the symbol, the bar

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The mustache is becoming a major trend in society right now – and not just men's facial hair, but the symbol of the mustache.

A new bar and lounge opened in South End on Saturday and has based its entire existence around that symbol.

'Stache House is a modern twist on the Victorian-style speakeasy. It caters to a different clientele than most bars and lounges in the historic South End area.

Throughout the establishment, there are numerous photographs and accents that are tailored to the more masculine appeal. Yet there is a comedic relief within all the masculinity that makes it appropriate for males and females alike.

The lounge is located at 1520 South Blvd. just underneath CBS Radio, neighboring Carraba's and the Aveda Institute in the popular South End district.

At Saturday night's grand opening, bar guests could walk down the red carpet and get their picture taken.

Fake mustaches and mustache accents are offered if guests want to add a touch of flair to their already interesting selves.

The 'Stache Lounge provides a DJ and visitors to the lounge can drink exquisite cocktails like the 'Staches' very own Ron Burgundy.

"The bar industry lacks variety in this rapidly growing city. For years I have recognized Charlotte's need for an upscale yet unassuming lounge for the young sophisticate to hang out. Simply put, I wanted to create a cool space where I would enjoy spending time with my friends, drinking well-crafted cocktails and listening to great music while still able to hold a conversation," said general manager Morgan Tadlock.

'Stache House is open daily starting at 4 p.m.
