CONCORD, N.C. —
One of the victim’s coworkers, Jose, was an eyewitness to the attack. Jose said, “I just saw two black men get out of the car and shot my friends and stole their money.” Jose said the shooter took $600 from the construction workers.
He said one of the victims was shot in the arm, the other in the leg. Both men were rushed to CMC Northeast for their injuries.
People who live in the neighborhood said violent crime is not the norm. Jose seemed to think his coworkers may have been targeted, but didn’t know why.
He said his coworkers had cashed checks earlier that day and believed the suspect followed them to the construction site.
Concord Police said they have no suspects in custody. Both of the shooting victims are expected to recover.
