8 Departments Involved In Chase After Stolen Scooter Suspect

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A chase that started in Albemarle ended when an alleged thief jumped and ran from a truck in Charlotte.

According to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office, Albemarle police began chasing a truck with a scooter in the back after a scooter with the same description was reported stolen early Monday.

Deputies said Albemarle police stopped following the truck and Locust police began chasing it at the Albemarle city limits. A short time later, the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office joined the chase, along with police from Oakboro and Stanfield.

Once the suspect and authorities reached the Cabarrus County line, Stanly County officers stopped following the driver and Cabarrus County deputies continued the chase, Stanly County deputies said.

When the chase got to the beginning of Mecklenburg County, the Highway Patrol joined in, and when they got into city limits, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department started chasing the driver.

The chased ended at Rollings Hill Road in Charlotte, where the suspect jumped and ran from vehicle.

Stanly County deputies said the suspect was taken into custody immediately. A female passenger was also arrested. The suspect’s name has not been released.
