CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested three boys and charged them with the robbery and beating of an 81-year-old man.

Eulah Robinson said he was walking around his north Charlotte neighborhood Sunday when he was attacked by three boys. Robinson said the boys took his cane and used it to hit him in the legs and head. The boys also snatched his wallet.

Robinson said a friend driving by saw what happened, picked him up and called police.

Officers were able to track down the teens and Robinson’s wallet at a nearby park.

"They thought I had some money,” Robinson said. “I didn't have any money in it but they got fooled that time."

Leon Alston, 16, and two other juveniles were charged in the crime.

Robinson said he has experienced a lot in his life, but being preyed upon by children is something he said he still can't wrap his head around.

"I tell you they don't know no better. They wasn't raised," he said.

Alston has been charged with robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police cannot release information on the other two suspects because they are minors.
