A woman said she paid off her car, but her loan company refused to hand over her title.
Jennifer Whitworth paid off her SUV last October after making the last $425 monthly payment.
“It’s definitely a blessing to have it paid off,” she said.
However, she has had a problem getting her title. Whitworth said Unifour Financial promised to send it last November but never did.
“In January, I called back again and said, ‘I still haven’t received my title. I paid it off in October,’ and they told me then they had sent it out,” Whitworth said.
The following week, Whitworth got an envelope in the mail from Unifour, but there was nothing in it. So, she called the company again.
“They said, ‘Well, we sent you your title’ and I said, ‘No, it was empty,’” she said. “They were back and forth combative with me.”
After that call, a manager at Unifour assured Whitworth she would have the title by March. It never arrived and Whitworth got frustrated with the company.
“I’ve gotten story after story of why I didn’t have my title,” she said.
Action 9 sent Unifour a letter asking about the problem with the title. A spokesman said the company was waiting on the Department of Motor Vehicles to issue a duplicate title.
A few weeks later, the title arrived.
