Air Force One replica arrives in Charlotte

Air Force One could cause traffic delays in Charlotte on Thursday morning.

No, President Obama isn't coming for a visit, but a replica of Air Force One will be arriving by truck.

The Air Force One replica is expected to arrive on I-85 at the Mecklenburg/Gaston county line around 10:30 a.m.  The truck will take I-85 North to I-77 South to John Belk Freeway to the Carson Blvd. exit, arriving in Uptown around 11 a.m.

Significant delays are not expected along I-85, but delays are likely as the truck (and airplane) navigate the I-77/John Belk Freeway interchange (Exit 9) around 11 a.m.  If traveling between I-77, Uptown, and Independence Blvd. between 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., use the Brookshire Freeway (Exit 11) as an alternate route.

The Air Force One replica is part of the "American Presidential Experience," a special exhibit that will be open in Uptown from August 31st through September 8th.  Click here for more information on the American Presidential Experience.
