Airbags Stolen From Charlotte Body Shop

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police are investigating after they say thousands of dollars worth of airbags were stolen from cars at an auto body shop.

Officers said airbags were swiped from about 10 vehicles at the Wilburn Auto Body Shop off Independence Boulevard in southeast Charlotte.

They said the thief cut through a fence Wednesday morning and then smashed windows of the vehicles to get to the airbags.

Officers said thieves steal airbags because they can resell them for about $500 each.

Police have not made any arrests or released a good suspect description.
