Authorities Find SUV Of Slain CMS Teacher

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a middle school teacher at his southwest Charlotte home. Police were at the house throughout Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, officers went to 38-year-old Anthony Davis’ home on Lady Liberty Lane, which is off Nations Ford Road near Interstate 77, to check on him after he didn’t show up to work at Randolph Middle School for a second day.

They found the teacher shot to death. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.

Davis’ vehicle, a silver 2007 Ford Edge, was missing. Police said they found it in a neighborhood off Back Creek Church Road in northeast Charlotte early Wednesday.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call 704-432-TIPS to speak to a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Davis taught career and technical education. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools representatives said it is a sad time, and that they are calling in additional counselors to Randolph Middle and sending home a letter to notify parents.
