Autopsy Released In Charlotte Police Shooting

An autopsy has been released on a Charlotte man shot by police two months ago, but questions remain about the incident.

The autopsy confirms 21-year-old Aaron Winchester was shot twice in the back May 20, but it's unclear if Winchester was turning toward Officer David Jeter at the time.

One shot went up and to the right in Winchester’s torso. The second was to the left.

Mecklenburg County medical examiner Christopher Gulledge would not talk about the case.

Police said Jester fired four shots as Winchester pulled a gun and began to turn. A gun was found near his body. Some witnesses said Winchester was trying to get away and didn't pull a gun or turn.

Prosecutors have not said if Jeter will be charged. The police department and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating. Both would only say the investigations are ongoing.

Jester is on administrative duty until a hearing takes place.

Police had wanted to question Winchester about an argument with a woman and a wreck.
