CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
County Commissioner Norman Mitchell said the situation is embarrassing, and he isn't sure national attention would help.
He told Eyewitness News he sent Sharpton a message saying he'd like to speak with him before he decides whether to get involved.
Other local African-American leaders are asking Sharpton to come to Charlotte on behalf of Sheriff-Elect Nick Mackey.
