YORK COUNTY, S.C. —
They said the woman is Randi Dean Saldana, 30, of Gastonia. Investigators said they made the identification with the use of her fingerprints.
A passerby in Kings Mountain State Park spotted Saldana’s remains on Apple Road.
According to Gaston County records, Saldana had been arrested 22 times.
Saldana’s body underwent an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina, but authorities are not releasing her cause of death at this time. Her death is considered a homicide.
The York County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Gastonia Police Department, Gaston County Police and the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office.
This is the second time in weeks that a woman's body was found in York County.
The body of Heather Catterton, 17, was found on Robinson Road last month, about several miles away from Saldana's body. She was also from Gastonia, and the two lived only about five miles apart.
Officers have not linked the two cases.
Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the York County Sheriff’s Office at 803-628-3059 or Crime Stoppers at 877-409-4321.
