CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
The Charlotte Housing Authority presented 94 public housing students with over $100 dollars in scholarships at their 29th Awards & Recognition ceremony.
The ceremony was held on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on West Sugar Creek Road.
Merit awards were presented to selected students for outstanding academic achievement and a recipient was honored as "Student of the Year."
Additionally, 27 special recognition scholarships were awarded and nine students were honored as 2012 college graduates.
Two honorees from the community were recognized for their outstanding service to youth.
The event is a partnership between Charlotte Housing Authority, Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Fund and Foundation for the Carolinas.
