Some unnamed sources say the Charlotte Knights may leave town.
Ballpark Digest is reporting, "Owner Don Beaver is looking at all his options -- and a potential move to Richmond (Va.) is on the list."
Eyewitness News called Beaver. He said the Knights aren't contractually obligated to stick around, but he emphatically denied they're leaving or even looking to move.
He said, "I don't know where people get this stuff."
Then again, the Knights could be losing patience with Charlotte. They want to build a ballpark uptown, but lawsuits keep delaying construction and, the longer the team waits, the more construction costs.
Meanwhile, Richmond just lost its team, the Braves, to Georgia. Minor League Baseball developer Peter Kirk, who is trying to upgrade Richmond's ballpark for a new team, said he hasn't heard anything about the Knights moving.
But Mecklenburg County Commissioner Dan Ramirez said he has heard rumblings, and he hopes they're not true.
He said, "It is really up to (the Knights). They're businesspeople, and they have to see for the benefit of their own team -- whatever is best for them."
