Charlotte Teacher Accused Of Sex Crimes Involving Children

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Police arrested a teacher at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School late Tuesday afternoon on sex charges involving a young student. Officers took Ryan Marshall into custody shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Detectives charged Marshall with taking indecent liberties with a minor and with disseminating harmful materials to minors. Police said the alleged victim is a student and attends Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Channel 9 Eyewitness News learned that Marshall is accused of using a cell phone to send inappropriate pictures and text messages to a student. Marshall is listed on the CMS web site as a language arts teacher at MLK Middle School.

Police said officers transported Marshall to police headquarters for questioning and planned to take him to the Mecklenburg County Jail afterwards.
