Crews Work To Repair Second Water Main Break On Highway 73

DENVER, N.C. —

A water main on a busy highway in Denver broke just after crews finished repairing another break that happened earlier this week.

The westbound lanes of Highway 73 have been closed since Wednesday while crews worked to repair the first water main break, which disrupted service to homes and businesses in the area.

Crews were expected to begin repaving the road on Friday morning and later reopen the road, but the second break was then discovered. Workers had to dig up the same stretch of road they had just finished repairing to get to the second break.

The westbound lanes of the highway are expected to remain closed through Friday and possibly into Saturday morning. Click here for alternate routes from Traffic Team 9.
