Denny's Apologizes For N.C. Breast-Feeding Incident

ASHEVILLE, N.C. —

An official with the Denny's restaurants has met with a North Carolina woman who says she was harassed when she was approached about breast-feeding her child in an Asheville restaurant.

Twenty-eight-year-old Crystal Everitt met with Rick Pate, regional director of operations for Denny's, on Sunday.

Everitt says she was doing nothing wrong on Feb. 8 when she was asked to conceal herself or move to a more private area while nursing her 1-year-old son.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported about 30 people gathered to show support for Everitt.

Pate said Denny's tries to provide a non-offensive environment for their patrons and breast-feeding mothers are welcome.

Everitt says she wants Denny's to have an official policy on breast-feeding, and Pate said he'd send her concerns along to his supervisors.
