Deputy Flips Car, Hits Gas Line

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. —

A Rowan County deputy is expected to be OK after a car crash early Friday morning.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy lost control of his patrol car after hitting a sheet of ice. The car flipped and hit a natural gas terminal, triggering a gas leak.

The road had to be shut down while the gas line was repaired.

The deputy was transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

While Salisbury police officers were assisting on the scene, another accident occurred.

A driver with an iced-over windshield hit one of the Salisbury police cars, the sheriff’s office said. No one was hurt.

The road reopened around 7:30 a.m.
