Duke Lacrosse Accuser's Boyfriend Dies After Stabbing

RALEIGH, N.C. —

The woman who falsely accused Duke lacrosse players of raping her will plead not guilty to assaulting her live-in boyfriend, who died after nearly two weeks in a local hospital.

Woody Vann, the lawyer representing Crystal Mangum, says his client will formally enter the plea at her arraignment, which hasn't been scheduled.

Mangum has been jailed since the April 3 incident. She's charged with assault, but Durham police say more serious charges may be filed following the Wednesday death of 46-year-old Reginald Daye.

Dave was taken off life support on Wednesday evening.

Vann says Daye and Mangum were living together, but declined to comment on the specifics of the case.

Mangum falsely accused Duke University lacrosse players of raping her at a 2006 party at which she was hired to perform as a stripper. She's had numerous legal troubles since then.
