CHARLOTTE, NC —
Outraged parents confronted school officials Thursday night at a meeting to discuss plans to demolish Marie G. Davis Middle School in south Charlotte.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board will consider a proposal next week to tear down the school and replace it with a new military magnet school.
Parents complained Thursday night that the plan would destroy their neighborhood school since only about one fourth of the current student body would attend the proposed new school.
Money to build a new school at the site of Marie G. Davis was included in a bond issue which voters approved several years ago.
