CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Officials are beefing up security at one C.M.S. high school after a teen was charged with bringing a gun on campus.

Extra police, including Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and school resource officers, will be on the campus of E. E. Waddell High School Wednesday.

Authorities said two carloads of people were shooting at each other on Nations Ford Road at Interstate 77 Tuesday when a teenage girl was struck in the leg. She was taken to an area hospital.

Another teen is now in police custody, charged with firing a gun into an occupied car and bringing a gun onto a school campus.

Police believe that teen had a gun at E. E. Waddell earlier in the day.
