CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
“I think about that a lot,” he said. “He had a good heart; looked at everyone the same."
In the 14 months Kyle Fleischmann has been missing, detectives have pored over lead after lead.
“We've gotten a lot of information, but nothing has been ruled out," said Detective Johnnie Tuttle of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Now, Fleischmann’s family and police are hoping to generate new tips on the case that's slowly growing cold. For a second time, “America’s Most Wanted” will feature Fleischmann’s disappearance.
Detectives said they received good leads the first time the show featured the Fleischmann case, but none of them panned out.
"There're a lot of people that were coming, filtering through in and out of Charlotte at that time, and people move on. People move to different locations throughout the country, so I think the national attention will be beneficial," Tuttle said.
Tuttle will be in Washington, D.C., when the show airs Saturday night to field calls from viewers and possible tipsters.
“We can talk to them directly. I can screen the information they're providing, and we can act on it if need be right then and there," he said.
The Buckhead Saloon in uptown was thought to have been the last place Fleischmann was seen early Nov. 9, 2007. But Tuttle said someone came forward last year and said they saw him even after he left.
“(The tipster said) that Kyle did go in to the Fuel Pizza and buy a couple slices of pizza and then left," Tuttle said.
Detectives also believe Fleischmann made calls from his cell phone in the First Ward area that morning. The last one was at about 3:30 a.m.
The toughest part, Fleischmann's family said, is the many unanswered questions.
"I'd like to know what happened to him, but at this point if I could just get anything, I'd like to just know where his remains are," Dick Fleischmann said. "I would like to just be able to put him at peace -- the right way."
The family hopes Saturday's national show, airing at 9 p.m. on FOX, will bring them one step closer to that peace.
If you know anything about the disappearance of Kyle Fleischman, you can give an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. The family is offering a $50,000 reward.
The family has also set up The Kyle Fleischmann Foundation, which raises money to help find other missing adults.
