CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
A Charlotte teen sat in jail Saturday night, charged with killing his own father.
Around noon Saturday, police responded to a 911 call from a home on Fair Valley Drive in south Charlotte. They found 56-year-old Clay McCall, Jr., dead of a single gunshot. Officers charged 19-year-old Clay McCall, III, with murder. Investigators had not released a motive for the murder Saturday night.
Neighbors were saddened and stunned. "I have children of my own, I have a son," said neighbor Mary Shaheen. "You can't imagine anything like this could ever happen to a family."
It's the 17th homicide of the year in Charlotte.
