Fire Destroys South Charlotte Apartment

Fire destroyed one unit at the Wilmore apartments on Wilmore drive Sunday night.

Two other units suffered smoke damage, investigators said. Crews said it was too early to tell if those families will also be displaced.

Preliminary reports said the fire may have started in the kitchen of one of the units around 9 p.m.

Police blocked off Wilmore Drive and Toomey Avenue while crews investigated the fire.
