MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. —
The Charlotte area experienced heavy rains of about 3-5 inches Tuesday evening. Localized flooding affected some areas in south Charlotte.
The National Weather Service issued the flood warning for southern Mecklenburg County through 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
At 8:49 p.m. the NWS Doppler radar indicated that thunderstorms with heavy rainfall were moving out of the warned area. Rainfall amounts of around three inches have been estimated.
The NWS advices people not to drive into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great making it difficult to drive safely.
