CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
An Eyewitness News crew at the scene said three cars and a motorcycle crashed together when the geese started to cross the interstate. It happened just before 10 a.m.
A man and woman riding the motorcycle were seriously hurt and taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Two other people were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
One witness, James Wingard, stopped to help the couple on the motorcycle.
“It looked like they had been tossed off the motorcycle, maybe 5 feet,” Wingard said. “One of them was tossed off the motorcycle and it looked really like they were in pretty good condition considering what could have happened.”
The collision shut down the inner-loop of I-485 for about an hour and traffic was diverted to South Boulevard. It reopened at about 11 a.m.
