CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Charlotte’s mayor will take another shot at merging the city’s government with Mecklenburg County at a meeting Monday night.
This is not the first time the topic has been on the city council’s agenda, but now Mayor Anthony Foxx is asking the council to approve a $150,000 study on the consolidation idea.
The study would collect public input and draft a plan for consolidation by July 31.
However, some city council members said now is the wrong time to push for consolidation with the Democratic National Convention drawing closer.
When asked about where the funding for the study would come from, officials said that would be discussed at Monday night’s meeting.
