Gas Tank Farm Catches Fire

 

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Firefighters responded to a major haz-mat situation at a gas tank farm in west Charlotte Sunday night.

Leaking gas caught fire at the Kinder-Morgan facility on Freedom Drive just before midnight.

It took firefighters almost an hour to keep the fire from spreading. They worked with technicians to shut off four gas valves.

No one was hurt and no gas leaked outside the plant. They’re investigating the cause, but the suspect equipment failure.
