Hairpin Turn In Wadesboro Eased Ahead Of Schedule

WADESBORO, N.C. —

Lots of people heading to North Carolina beaches this weekend and this summer will use U.S. 74 East, and just about anyone who's driven east on U.S. 74 knows all about the hairpin turn in the middle of Wadesboro.

It's seen more than it has share of accidents, especially tractor trailers flipping over.

But there’s good news for drivers. The state is not only easing that curve and adding banking and a median, but the project is way ahead of schedule.

This project, which wasn't supposed to be finished until September, should be finished in the next few weeks.

It's so far ahead that all of its lanes are open now in time for holiday traffic.
