CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Channel 9 Meteorologist Katie Virtue said temperatures will reach 90 degrees and higher.

The heat index will stay around the 100-degree mark.
"You can expect to see showers pop up during the day Sunday, confined mostly to the higher elevations," Virtue said.
There is a cold front that will make its way into the area for the start of the work week.
With the cold front combined with the heat and humidity, there will be a chance for thunderstorms for Monday and Tuesday.
