The heat index will stay around the 100-degree mark.

"You can expect to see showers pop up during the day Sunday, confined mostly to the higher elevations," Virtue said.

There is a cold front that will make its way into the area for the start of the work week.

With the cold front combined with the heat and humidity, there will be a chance for thunderstorms for Monday and Tuesday.
