Home caught fire in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

A house fire in south Charlotte causes thousands of dollars in damage.  The fire started in south Charlotte early Saturday morning.

Fire crews responded to a home at Woodthorn Place at around 4:10 a.m.

The fire started at a low roof gable of an add-on portion of the home.

The man who lives in the home was not hurt.

Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control at around 4:45 a.m.

Investigators estimate the damage to be $20,000 dollars.

The Red Cross is helping the victim find a temporary place to live after he originally rejected the offer.
