CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America is in Charlotte beginning Thursday.
NACA has contracts with major lenders like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and offers free services to homeowners who face foreclosure. NACA helps homeowners reduce interest rates and mortgage payments.
While some experts feel the economy in Charlotte is improving, people on the front lines hardly see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Juandolin Thompson said she spent months looking for jobs, and hundreds of applications later, she still has nothing. She said people may be holiday shopping, but she's not one of them.
Thompson is not alone. The number of people employed has fallen for 22 straight months now.
Even people with jobs are afraid of losing their homes.
Gail Marquez flew from California to Charlotte specifically for the conference, and when asked if she feels the economy is improving, she said "no."
NACA's Dream Tour runs from Thursday, Dec. 3, to Monday, Dec. 7, at the Park, formally known as the Merchandise Mart. Counselors will there from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
