Tonight that 9-month-old baby boy is in critical condition at Carolinas Medical Center after being rushed to the hospital Saturday evening. The Monroe Police say that the infant swallowed cocaine at his home on Trull Place in Monroe around 9 p.m. They say that the child's father, 22-year-old Brandon Lewis, left him unattended, along with his friends Jonathan Henderson and David Autry. When the men went back into the room, police say they discovered the baby had swallowed cocaine. That's when the three men took the baby from the home to Union Regional Medical Center. From their the child was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center, where police say he remains in critical condition.
All three men were arrested Sunday morning and are now charged with possession of cocaine and assault--inflicted serious bodily harm. David Autry is also charged with delivery of cocaine.
