LINCOLNTON, N.C. —
Detectives said her parents found the letters in her room last week.
On Thursday, Lincolnton police charged Noel Morrison with attempted statutory sex offense, solicitation of statutory sex and four counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Friday morning, the 37-year-old father of two made his first court appearance. Minutes after he left court, the Lincoln County Medical Service Director announced that Morrison was terminated from his part-time job with them.
However, Lincolnton police said Morrison came in contact with the girl through his volunteer work at Lincolnton Rescue. Morrison trained Junior Rescue Squad members. Police will not say if the girl was a member of that program.
Police said they now worry that there could be more victims. Sgt. Matt Painter said, "Anybody that age ought to have enough sense not to do these things unless there is something deep within."
He said Morrison has no record of other offenses of this nature and they have no evidence of other crimes, but it is something they are investigating.
