Iredell County Mother Accused Of Child Abuse Out On Bond

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. —

A mother of four is out on bond after deputies charged her with child and animal abuse.

Jennifer Lytton is accused of burning her daughter, 5, with a cigarette and starving a dog to death.

Iredell County deputies found an animal's skeleton on the lawn of Lytton's house on West Ridge Drive.

A teacher noticed the burn mark on Lytton's daughter. Investigators said Lytton initially blamed a teacher for the burn.

Neighbor Mary Suits wants to see Lytton punished, "A mother who could burn her child like that, I think she deserves to be proescuted to the fullest".

Lytton faces charges of child abuse and cruelty to animals.

All four of Lytton's children are now staying with relatives.
