A Lincolnton family received an early Christmas gift from the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team -- a new home.
Hundreds of people showed up Saturday night to watch the emotional reveal of the Friday family’s new home that took thousands of volunteers, local builders, Bellamy Homes and the Extreme Makeover team to build.
The family, overcome with emotion, cried at the sight of their new home.
“It really shows that people do care, you know,” said Devonda Friday.

The couple never asked for anything in return when providing a home to more than 30 foster children over the years.
The Fridays adopted five siblings earlier this year so that the brothers and sisters wouldn’t be split up.
The show not only surprised the family with a new home, but they also surprised the family with a resource center, The House of Hope, to help people in need all over Lincoln County.
“It just brings joy to our hearts to know there’s a place where people can come and get what they need,” said James Friday.
The show and volunteers spent the week stocking the building with donations from people across Lincoln County.
