CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Eighteen local bookstores will team up for a book fair the first week of August to help raise money for libraries to buy new books.
Last month, library leaders announced that branches would operate only four days a week and only eight hours a day.
Mecklenburg County, the City of Charlotte and five local towns agreed to pitch in and make a one-time payment to keep more branches open.
