Local Counties Offer H1N1 Vaccine To Residents, Students

Several counties in North Carolina are offering H1N1 vaccinations over the next few days.

The Cleveland County Health Department started giving Swine flu vaccinations at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Our newspaper partner, The Shelby Star, reported people needed to bring their insurance information to get the vaccination.

The Mecklenburg County Health Department is also offering H1N1 vaccines to anyone in a high-risk group.

Eligible people should call the Mecklenburg County Health Department at (704) 432-5100 to schedule an appointment.

Students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools can also get the Swine flu shot.

CMS sent students home Friday with permission slips.

CMS hopes to start running clinics at individual schools by the end of November.

Students in Gaston County can get an H1N1 vaccine as well.

About 2,000 students at 11 different schools will get vaccinated on Monday.

The county has used information from county hospitals to identify hot spots and will inoculate students in those hot spots.

The Gaston County Health Department has given out 1,600 doses.
