Dr. Ada M. Fisher

Candidate Access 2006 A public service of WAXN-TV and WSOC-TV

Candidate Access 2006 offered each candidate up to five minutes to make a special appeal to voters. Views and comments expressed by the candidates are their own and should not be considered an endorsement by the television stations.

I’m Dr. Ada M. Fisher and I want your vote in the 2006 12th District U. S. Congressional Race.

My paternal grandfather came to this country in 1858 as a boy of three on a slave ship from Africa later marrying my paternal grandmother, a Native American. My family’s journey was not based in immigration but our policies in this regard are ineffective and unfair for it is too easy to be illegal in this country. We turn the Haitians fighting for their lives away, yet continue to let some illegally stay here while permitting some employers to hire them thereby avoiding minimum wage laws. This is wrong.

Our response during Hurricane Katrina was inept for we were not and are not adequately prepared for disasters. We need people in Congress with the training to deal with terrorism, disasters and the health care crisis, which I have. I am a doctor attuned to the heartbeat of America and know that we must pledge, as do our troops to each other, To Leave No American Behind.

It’s time for a change to people who’ve lived your life, fought your battles and been there when you needed us. As a single mother of two adopted sons who’s multi-tasked with experience in things that matter most like staying in the workforce, running a household, trying to feed a family or struggling to pay bills, I can relate to your struggles and dreams.

My opponent can be quite nice and charming. Ones record of votes is important to examine, not negative campaigns. Take my pulse on my website DrAdaMFisher.org. I too am a nice person.

I stand for Access to Affordable Health Care based on the free enterprise system and reasonable tort reform compensating victims of malpractice fairly, jobs for the present with a future which can’t be shipped overseas or sent south of the border such as those in alternative energy development, as well as National Defense Enhancements with strengthened Homeland Security, Immigration Reform and Improved Veteran’s services.

It’s time to not only “Get a doctor in the house,” but also put this woman in the house. After all, it’s the democratic thing to do.

I’m Dr. Ada M. Fisher and I authorized this ad. Vote Fisher for Congress in the 12th US Congressional seat on November 7, 2006.
