The group said 58 percent of the state’s residents say they’d like the convention to happen here, while 23 percent said they are opposed to the idea. The rest said they don’t have an opinion on the matter.

The majority of Democrats and independents said they are excited about the idea. Democrats said they’d like the state to host the DNC by a 79-8 margin, while independents supported it by a 50-29 margin.

Republicans statewide are opposed to the idea, but only by a margin of 33-39. In the greater Charlotte region, however, GOP voters support the idea by a 43-32 margin.
