CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte police say they have arrested two people in the shooting death of 21-year-old Monte Jarron Gay. Gay was shot on Farm Pond Lane Monday.

Police say they arrested 19-year-old Terrence J. Parker at a motel on Independence Boulevard and 19-year-old Brenton Samuels, on Old Sycamore Road in Mint Hill. CMPD says both have been charged with Murder.

Charlotte Police worked into the night Monday, collecting evidence at the scene on Farm Pond Lane right outside of Allen Altawati's stores. He says his employees were working when they heard four or five shots.

"Then suddenly someone came running in the store and said I was shot," said Altawati.

He says he has shared surveillance video from his store with police. In it he saw the man being helped by two friends until Medic arrived.

"It was just horrifying moments the tape, it was bad," said Altawati.

"Oh no, not again -- it's unfortunate," said Stacey Benjamin, a nearby business owner.

Benjamin says he saw the flashing lights and walked down to find out what happened. He, like others Eyewitness News spoke with off camera, says the crime here sadly isn't surprising. But he says police have been present in the area and he's seen some improvement.

Eyewitness News rode along with officers in the middle of December as they made arrests, working to take guns and drugs off the street in this same area.

"We put a lot of time and focus in this area and we're going to continue to do that," said Captain Henson.

"Police cleaned up a lot in this area and to see this happen again brings back memories, bad memories," said Altawati.

Police are not releasing a motive so it's not clear if this latest crime is similar to what officers have been fighting. But they say they will continue to focus on this area.
