VALE, N.C. —

One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting in Catawba County on Wednesday night.

Deputies said in an unidentified vehicle shot into an SUV on Hope Road. The SUV crashed into a pole after the shooting, officials said.

Deputies said the driver, 40-year-old Aaron Ruff, was killed. His teenage son, Dieron Ruff, was also in the SUV when shots were fired. Another person was hurt in the incident.

The teen said he remembers hearing seven shots and then the SUV crashing into a utility pole on the side of Hope Road. He said one of the bullets grazed his shoulder.

"After I heard the gun shots, we all ducked. And I seen my daddy over the steering wheel and I looked straight and we were going into the light pole," said Dieron Ruff. "I was speechless. I was shocked."

The family members are still in disbelief over what happened.

"It is like it is not real -- hoping that it is just a dream and I can wake up and he's here," said the victim's wife, Kelly Ruff.

Quavis Propst and Calvin Fuller were charged with murder and attempted first-degree murder in the case.

Both men are due in court on Monday.

Investigators have not released any information about a potential motive, but Ruff's family members said there had been an ongoing dispute with Propst -- who deputies believe pulled the trigger.

The lead investigator in the case said they have recovered all seven shell casings.
