CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a crash Friday at 5126 S. Tryon St., according to a news release.

A 2001 Chrysler 300M driven by Meeyung Park was traveling northbound on S. Tryon Street when it sideswiped a 2001 Chrysler Concorde driven by Justin Frazier.

Park's vehicle then rear ended a Charlotte Area Transit System bus which was stopped in traffic. The Chrysler 300M then struck a median in the roadway.

The rear passenger, Anthony Lucente, a 2-year-old child was ejected from the Chrysler 300M. MEDIC transported the child to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Park, who is the mother of the 2-year-old and Soon Ok Park, the grandmother of the child, were also transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main.

There were seven passengers on the CATS bus. One passenger was transported with complaints of injury. The drivers of the CATS bus and the Chrysler Concorde were not injured.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to investigate the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed the child was not properly restrained in the child seat. Speed and drug impairment are also contributing factors in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

Park was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, no operator's license, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed, child restraint violation and two counts of felony serious injury by vehicle.

Anthony Lucente and Soon Park have been admitted to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.
