3 sent to hospital after high-speed accident on I-485

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —

Speeding contributed to an accident that left one car overturned in the median Monday night, state troopers said.

According to the N.C. Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling on the outer loop of Interstate 485 was hit from behind by a car traveling approximately 100 mph.

The second car pushed the first car into the median, where it overturned, troopers said.

The driver of the second car and the two people in the car that overturned were taken to a nearby hospital, but there were no serious injuries, troopers said.

Troopers said they would be checking the driver of the second vehicle for alcohol.
