After spending nearly 12 hours lost in the woods, an 87-year-old man is recovering in a hospital Friday.
Official say William Richardson suffers from Alzheimer's disease and crashed along the Blue Ridge Parkway last night.
Richardson spent the night roughly 40 feet down a hill from where his car crashed in 50 degree temperatures.
A couple from Louisiana found him yesterday morning.
"They covered him up, which is real important 'cause he was out in the woods all night and all he had on him was a pair of jeans and a short-sleeve shirt," said Richardson's son, Kevin Richardson.
Richardson was taken to the hospital with mild hypothermia.
