The SBI and officers with the Wadesboro Police Department are interviewing witnesses as they continue to investigate a shooting that left two people dead Monday night.
Overnight, police were dealing with two different crime scenes. The first is a house on Salisbury Street, and the second is a few hundred yards up the street at a convenience store.
Police were called to the convenience store on Highway 74 around 6 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found one man shot to death.
A short time later, another victim was discovered at a house down the street. That man was still alive and was rushed to the hospital, where police said he died.
Police are expected to release the names of the victims Tuesday. They have not said what they think led up to the shooting or if they are looking for anyone in connection with it.
Eyewitness News spoke to a woman who lives across the street from where the incident happened.
“I heard one shot at first and when I stood up to go look out the window, I just heard a barrage of shots -- just ‘bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.’ When I finally opened my door and looked out, people just running,” she said.
