A Charlotte woman said a home alarm system company tricked her into signing a contact and she said it led her to pay twice what she normally would have. Georgia Kennedy has a new home alarm service that she is not happy about. Kennedy said a salesman for Vector Security convinced her to sign a five-year contract after telling her that her alarm company had gone out of business. "I didn't know any better, so I let them put it in. I thought my company was no longer in business," said Kennedy. When her company drafted a payment from her bank account the following month, Kennedy contacted them and found out that they were still in business. Kennedy then called Vector Security to cancel the new contract and stop them from taking payments from her bank account, but she didn't have any luck. "I just feel like they used me, just took advantage of me," said Kennedy. Action 9 called vector security and were transferred to another company named AMP that sells and installs their systems. An AMP spokesman said that in a follow up call after the sale, they told Kennedy she had to cancel service with her old alarm company or she could be charged twice. After Action 9's contact, Vector let Kennedy out of her contract. "I'm happy about it, when you came, they acted. When I was talking, they didn't do anything," said Kennedy. Kennedy now tells seniors before signing any contract to talk to someone you trust.
