For the third time this year, airlines have failed to rally around each other to raise domestic airfares.
The latest unsuccessful attempt came last Wednesday when Delta raised domestic fares bought within seven days of travel by $4.
On Friday, they did away with them.
There is speculation that the merger last week between American Airlines and US Airways could ultimately mean an increase in ticket prices, but experts say right now, airlines are being cautious.
Passengers Channel 9 spoke to Monday morning said any increase is wrong.
“The little people will suffer and that is just inappropriate and incomprehensible,” said passenger Charlie Walker III.
Experts said one of the reasons airlines likely didn’t agree to the increase is because they are making money right now. But they did say following a merger like the one last week, prices generally do increase.
